Botswana President Ian Khama has appointed Minister of Minerals, Water and Energy Resources, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe, the new Vice-President of Botswana.
Dr Kedikilwe replaces Mr Mompati Merafhe who recently resigned from politics.
The appointment was endorsedby 38 Members of Parliament out of a total of 56 who voted.
“The Member of Parliament for Mmadinare, Dr Ponatshego Kedikilwe, has been accordingly endorsed as the Vice-President of Botswana,” said the Speaker.
Dr Kedikilwe had been serving as Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources since January 2007.
He has also worked in various government ministries including serving as Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Commerce and Industry, Finance and Development Planning and Education.
