The late Professor William Senteza Kajubi. MARTIN SSEBIYIRA| AFRICA REVIEW 

Professor William Senteza Kajubi, former Vice Chancellor of Makerere and Nkumba Universities in Uganda has passed away. He was 87 years old.

Prof Kajubi was born in Kampala in 1926. He earned his first degree from Makerere University, before proceeding to the University of Chicago in the USA where he graduated with a M.Sc. degree with a concentration in geography.

He taught at Kings College Budo for three years after returning from the USA, before becoming a lecturer at Makerere University.

He was the Director of the National Institute of Education at Makerere University from 1964 to 1977.

In 1977 he was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Makerere University, a post he held until 1979. He became professor of higher education at Makerere University that very year.

Prof Kajubi was appointed Principal of Kyambogo Institute of Teacher Education in 1986, serving in that capacity until 1989.

He was again appointed Vice Chancellor of Makerere University the following year, in 1990, holding the position until 1993.

He became Vice Chancellor of Nkumba University, a private university, in 1994, a position he held until 2008.

His daughter, Samalie Kajubi, who confirmed his death says burial arrangements are underway.
