Call for Mo Ibrahim Fellowship applications

Applications for the second year of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation's Leadership Fellowships programme are now open.

The programme offers mentoring opportunities to young Africans with leadership potential at three multilateral organisations, the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The Mo Ibrahim Foundation, set up by the billionaire philanthropist, is best known for its annual governance prize to former African Presidents and heads of state.

According to a statement released on Thursday, the Ibrahim Fellows each receive a stipend of $100,000 and are anticipated, on graduation from the programme, to go on to play a major role in the governance and development of the African continent.

Commenting on the programme, Dr Mo Ibrahim said “Our Foundation has adopted youth as our core governance theme for 2012. Our youth are our most valuable asset and we are delighted to be able to play a role in helping to develop our continent’s next generation of outstanding talent.”

The AfDB, UNECA and WTO will each host an Ibrahim Fellow in their executive office.
