The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has named Egyptian Farouk Mohamed referee of this month’s match between Tanzania's Taifa Stars and Mozambique’s Black Mambas.

The teams will lock horns in the first leg of the Africa Cup of Nations preliminary round match on February 29 at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Information Officer Boniface Wambura disclosed that Mohamed would be assisted by compatriots Ayman Degaish and B.T Abo El Sadat.

“Match commissioner will be Loed Mc Ian from South Africa,” said Wambura.

The return leg will take place in Maputo in September.

Psychologically, Black Mambas have an edge over Taifa Stars. They have won three of their last six matches against the Jan Poulsen team.

Taifa Stars, whose first ever appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations finals was in 1980 in Nigeria, have beaten Mozambique twice while one match ended in a barren draw.

The two teams last met in a friendly match in April last year in Maputo where the hosts won 2-0.
