Uganda U-20 football team gunning for MozambiqueBy XINHUA | Friday, May 4 2012 at 13:52
Uganda's U-20 national football team (Hippos) have vowed to crush Mozambique in the second leg of the African Youth Championship qualifier in Maputo this weekend.
Head coach Paul Nkata said on Thursday before departure for Mozambique that although they recorded a 4-0 victory over Mozambique in the first leg, they are also going all out for victory away from home.
Morocco, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Niger, Rwanda and Sierra Leone boosted their passage to second round with healthy victories.
The first four won convincingly at home but Rwanda and Sierra Leone went one better by wining away from home in Windhoek, Namibia and N'Djamena, Chad respectively.
Nkata said although the hosts will be eager to overturn the first leg loss, his team will be looking for a quick goal to kill off the pressure from the home side.
"We are not taking anything for granted because football is football and anything can always happen," he said.
The Ugandan contingent includes 18 players and seven officials. The Hippos will next face former world youth champions Ghana in the next round.
