Zambia coach Herve Renard, whose team face Ghana Saturday in a 2014 World Cup qualifier, has threatened to quit again, this time for unpaid six-month arrears, local media reported Thursday.

French-born Renard, whose African champions team lost 0-2 last Saturday to Sudan in a 2014 World Cup qualifier, had earlier issued a quit threat citing frustration caused by poor travel arrangements.

He blamed the Zambian government officials for the "confusion".
The Zambian government abandoned plans to charter a plane for the Chipolopolo just as the team was about to leave for Sudan.

Local media reported quoting French sports daily l’Equipe that Renard threatened to quit if his six-month unpaid dues are not settled by the end of June.

Renard is quoted as having said he decided to stay and qualify the Chipolopolo [Copper bullets] to the 2014 World Cup following his 2012 Africa Cup success despite having big offers elsewhere.

“I have not been paid for six months,” Renard is quoted as saying.

“After the Africa Cup, I took the decision to remain with the group, despite other big offers. I planned to go to the World Cup. That’s life I have learnt my lesson.”

He added: “There is an incredible lack of respect and consideration. Enough is enough. If nothing is settled before end of June, I am leaving.”

Zambia must beat Ghana to keep any realistic chance of advancing to the third round qualifying stage.

The game will be played at the newly Chinese-built Levy Mwanawasa stadium in northern Zambia.

Zambia Sports minister Chishimba Kambwili has urged Renard to convey his challenges through "right channels" and not through the press.
