Speculation is rife about the 27-year marriage between Angolan former President José Eduardo dos Santos and Ms Ana Paula dos Santos.

The two, reported the online publication ClubK, have not been seen together in public for more than six months and could be headed for a divorce.

ClubK is one of Angola's most trusted online publications, with a reputation for breaking sensitive news.

It is owned by Angolans and edited by Mr José Gama, who lives in South Africa.

ClubK reported thatMs Ana Paula dos Santos last year moved to London, to be with their daughter Joseane.

The former first lady, it went on, refused to return to Luanda for the inauguration of Mr João Lourenço, as her husband's successor.

She only agreed to make the trip after the intervention of the Catholic Church's Archbishop Alexandre do Nascimento.

Mr Lourenço took over from President dos Santos in August 2017, following an election that marked the end of a 38-year reign.

ClubK reportedfurther that Mr dos Santos and his wife headed their separate ways after the new president's inauguration.

Whereas the former president went to live at his private residence in Miramar quarter, Ana Paula went to live in an apartment owned by their son at the Alvalade quarter in Solar Building in Luanda, it reported.

Mr dos Santos married the former fashion model and air hostess in 1991.

The veteran leader has kept a relatively low profile since leaving power.

He was until his retirement the second-longest-serving president in Africa, surpassed only by Theodore Obiang' Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea, who took power less than two months before him.
