Kenya to host Egyptian president
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi is expected in Nairobi Saturday, the Kenyan Presidency has announced.
It will the Egyptian leader's first state visit to Kenya.
President Sisi's visit comes in less than a week since Kenya hosted Slovak leader Andrej Kiska.
President Sisi will be received by his host Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi, where the two leaders will lead their delegations in bilateral talks aimed at bolstering cooperation between their two states.
Volume of trade
Kenya and Egypt have strong trade ties, with the total volume of trade between them standing at approximately $450 million in 2015.
Kenya’s total exports to comprise a number of products dominated by tea at 96 per cent.
Egypt is the second largest importer of Kenyan tea. However, there has been a decline in tea exports over the last few years.
